MCST Plan No. 4293 – Altez Condo

Tennis Court Lights

Altez Condo is a high-end residential development located in the Tanjong Pagar CBD. The MCST engaged us to upgrade the lighting at their tennis and basketball courts as part of a broader effort to improve energy efficiencysafety, and lighting quality.

The existing courts were still operating on 1000W metal halide lights. These systems depend on startersballasts, and igniters – components that have become increasingly difficult to source as the technology ages. In addition, power consumption and ongoing maintenance costs were high, creating long-term reliability concerns.

As the preferred lighting partner for the estate, having previously completed other lighting works within the development, we were engaged to assess and recommend a suitable replacement.

Based on our recommendation, the MCST replaced the existing fixtures with 320W LED sports lights. Despite using less than one-third of the original power, the new LED lights deliver 20–30% higher brightness with more uniform illumination, improving visibility and overall user experience for residents using the courts at night.

Safety was also a key consideration. The original metal halide fixtures weighed over 10kg each, increasing risk during maintenance. The new LED fixtures weigh under 5kg, reducing structural load and lowering long-term maintenance and safety risks.

In total, 8 lights were upgraded – 6 at the tennis court and 2 at the basketball court. The entire project was completed within 2.5 days, allowing the facilities to return to use quickly with minimal disruption to residents.

This project demonstrates that for premium CBD developments, upgrading aging sports court lighting is not only about energy savings. It is also about improving safetyreliability, and delivering a lighting standard that aligns with the expectations of a luxury property.
